Different universities have different requirements, and it depends on the programs as well. For a lot of good programs, you need about 70 related volunteer hours. For example, if you want to study Social Work at Grant MacEwan, you will need 70 related volunteer hours.. `5 b. x% x8 q. y" i: t
However, it's really good to volunteer. You can get experiece, references, respect...# P( N. J8 Q0 M

Yes, most of senior homes/centres have pianos! And they do need volunteers to play the music for them. I did few times even though I'm not good at it at all. 
If you need some volunteer information for your son, I'll be more than happy to tell you.
