innovation, commerce and social interaction. As the government develops
/ h2 _4 F% u! CCanada’s first comprehensive Digital Economy Strategy, we need to look* N V- C! `$ ^: H4 R, o
carefully at how issues like UBB affect the big picture. We will be
; c( Y; w/ I" P; M7 xguided by our long-standing policies of encouraging competition and! b1 F X+ g2 h7 ~" o/ k
investment, increasing consumer choice, minimizing regulation and allowing9 X9 z) v# g( w( i. {0 l( l9 A
market forces to prevail.

|: Q4 m2 e' mThe Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has* L' u' I2 e/ L* G1 w
chosen to examine these concerns that the government shares with a large5 m z }& R/ @! q, U9 P

When the CRTC reaches a final decision following its consultations, the

competition among internet service providers. I will be recommending that
