Our government recognizes that the Internet and digital technologies are

innovation, commerce and social interaction. As the government develops
* F" b+ D7 Z0 x+ g/ {& X( DCanada’s first comprehensive Digital Economy Strategy, we need to look7 k w3 Q6 c4 U/ X4 y
carefully at how issues like UBB affect the big picture. We will be
) b8 h! d% j3 f( Y5 g+ W5 xguided by our long-standing policies of encouraging competition and% M8 ^) ]0 |, b& Y! Z9 E
investment, increasing consumer choice, minimizing regulation and allowing

5 s! Y- V- u0 l" r7 J$ K! m: UThe Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has1 K, K! Q3 ]# P
chosen to examine these concerns that the government shares with a large

# i; p2 W! h. s3 N' }+ Xcompetition among internet service providers. I will be recommending that
