years, Jim West supported several anti-gay bills, including one that would
have banned gays and lesbians from working in schools and day care centers.
He also proposed a law that would ban all sexual activity among persons
under the age of 18 (the bill failed). He would later admit that he

senator, he advocated the impeachment of then-Gov. Mike Lowry for alleged

West was involved in a sex scandal in 2005. He was accused of sexually
6 ?9 n7 b; r) \3 V+ i/ L6 Tabusing two young boys in the 1970s and 1980s when he was a sheriff's deputy
& h- b, e% @, V3 |and Boy Scout leader. He was also accused of misusing his office as mayor
to lure teenage boys for sexual relationships. West called the molestation
+ }6 d/ d' ]; ?- _( e% eallegations "flat lies". However he admitted to having private online
# R: g: O# H+ prelationships in the past year through the Gay.com website (see ([3]).

the charges that he had sought out minors (see[4]). Using the name "Right-
BiGuy" he allegedly offered internships to young gay men (some of whom were

preacher. Known as Pastor Ted to the congregations he served, he is the

In November 2006, he resigned or was removed from all of his leadership
, g  c& b, C, {, B0 ^positions after he admitted soliciting prostitute Mike Jones for homosexual
sex and methamphetamine. Initially Haggard denied even knowing Mike Jones,
+ z1 \) r. }! E) {but as a media investigation proceeded he acknowledged that some allegations
, such as his purchase of methamphetamine, were true. He later added "sexual
immorality" to his list of confessions.[2]

After the scandal was publicized, Haggard entered three weeks of intensive
counseling, overseen by four ministers. In February 2007, one of those
( n' A. f* m3 w8 V+ wministers, Tim Ralph, said that Haggard "is completely heterosexual."[3]

young male church member had come forward in 2006 and that there was an "
overwhelming pool of evidence [of an] inappropriate, consensual sexual

wasn't a one-time act."[76] Haggard's successor, Brady Boyd, said the church
reached a six figure settlement with the man, who was in his early 20s at
