Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

 Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
! `. [3 X/ }* `- ?1 h7 N5 a- l Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
. ^/ \* G0 \% I Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
& {- @& \6 O6 s2 Q7 W1 i Completing required paperwork.
; d7 M- p0 O0 y' U! U: I! ~ Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
 Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
/ a/ S! }' @2 w  ~- J1 Z- C+ r3 u Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
 Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
 Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
 Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
 Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.

( e1 E! K* [) _4 OQualifications:

% y' @# C/ X% `# x6 X. h5 p Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
 Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
 Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
: @4 M1 l: _! [ Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
 Knowledge of community resources.
% F* l/ o' Y0 ]/ E& ] Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
 Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

! i% P& h3 p5 v9 n; E4 OPosition:
This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
starting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
