FUNCTION:
9 u# ~2 G0 ^8 n2 O1 d* zAs a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

# L% [5 o, o! `3 Z0 G) cDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
9 U+ X6 B! ^, r/ @) ?7 ?' R• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
* q) |) f. I! [4 t: r) S" Q• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
, h  E( g* ?2 L! P7 O1 }, w• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
+ k5 [( B; M9 W! V( ~• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
! t7 Y, ]3 K! B3 U0 x• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
2 F, a% a4 {9 P: ^/ N# e• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
# B4 Z% u2 g. B7 [• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
- ~7 I# B4 j3 E2 R% m- N' ~• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
1 A" \0 r( ^5 Z' w7 j4 Q6 S- m+ a• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
! h  J0 O8 S& |3 s( q• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
