Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or : {* l4 E" u" J Z' c
community cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to

Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services. - B/ a1 c" m# r
The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff,
- u+ t' z0 a9 w( H% a& x5 @" inewcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social
, W, f: T! T1 K& ^4 n+ ?9 z7 \Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as
' K: i# ^% `" A7 i7 x& n8 o8 gneeded. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for
9 H4 ?0 n6 Q& u+ @( snewcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial
2 h; C5 w# {' uassessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-

Accesses comprehensive, up-to-date information about services and resources available

Providing holistic information or advocacy services for immigrants and refugees served. 4 ~/ p4 o7 f2 I- \: j* V- _
Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families.

Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers. ' K$ s6 }; j! ~0 N

Qualification ! s; s2 o1 E6 L) c& }
3 P7 E# E& \( }6 P9 h; G6 D Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and 6 A H8 m: r( `) o4 Y
experience in Social Work or related human service fields.
/ X9 D9 \" k# o' u9 m& j# o Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family S7 u9 N* k( Z- E
support needs . l1 x0 b% ~7 M2 y1 j/ M' D9 i) q
Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications
; ^9 ^; J: X2 V. X4 f1 \9 N Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages + ^, h$ ~* s5 v/ d7 n$ p' Q
Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate 0 ?" a) G, T+ O% [
