In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
7 {5 D8 Q1 G; LPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. ; h' l, k8 E( s
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
; x- U6 f/ [8 M1 j3 \Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
; w7 j/ v V- D% zMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. 2 X0 h( b+ i; Q' X% a. g7 b( E
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
1 }4 S. ]7 C: {4 V' J1 mExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. : g- k7 ~% e; [$ K$ s k# t
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
: Q# l6 l" s5 F" @* z7 X& ODiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
# v9 n2 c' J6 m& G1 [Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. : C8 i4 K- v s: o( G# Z8 x4 P
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
8 f* j$ t2 x4 H' H4 C1 X: kEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.
7 ~: Q! U, e2 CQualifications
J" u3 y3 Y) dA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. + G, I4 C+ r2 }, D5 G M* W
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
1 k9 S% K) x% MPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
4 b, Q) u/ Z$ V* mPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
( l5 ~; ]- y/ R# \$ A) \Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
2 Y& U7 l# i! L o3 Z, l aProficiency in a second language is considered an asset. . c' J. a( [% @, ]/ x- n1 s
