# f% s! p$ N8 N7 v * Provides technical support and husbandry of the Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer (TIMS) Laboratory
, t& {! K" f6 B * Performs isotopic analyses on a broad spectrum of chemical elements, including Pb, Os, Nd, Sr8 E8 ]& h" Q9 ?$ ]4 m+ p+ R7 F
* Completes routine maintenance on the TIMS and auxiliary equipment, such as vacuum pumps
7 E' U) T9 j5 ?: { A% } * Performs data compilation, analysis and data reduction calculations
6 r4 P& m$ e6 v * Trains users on the mass spectrometer and reduction calculations# S% }7 X/ P! S" L( N0 V
5 i% Z+ A! N: B& eQualifications- K! }2 Z2 `* ^2 H: e9 w- n
5 {7 p! y! ~/ P * Technical diploma in Physical Sciences, preferably Geological Sciences or equivalent; BSc in Geology or Chemistry is preferred& [/ U# C* |0 l. {9 D% h
* Specialized training on thermal ionization mass spectrometers, geochemical analyses, and instrumentation
; _3 T; J3 [* u2 k1 M) Q. {9 B * Experience in an established research laboratory with demonstrated knowledge of lab safety regulations and procedures including general lab hygiene and specific safety protocols for thermal ionization mass spectrometers3 F0 `4 z: h9 P2 p9 {- Z
* WHMIS training4 i0 r: u8 {( p/ O* P0 e' P- K6 j
* Computer competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and programming experience would be an asset
