Integrated Employability Skills Training gives immigrants the essential
skills needed for success in the Alberta workplace. This 5-month funded
2 y3 l& @" m9 d. S# [% z2 bprogram combines classroom-based training with work site visits and work
experience placements in high-demand semi-skilled occupations, such as
warehousing, customer service, hospitality, healthcare support, food
services and others.
& \: R8 Y% N$ {% r  x. N9 F
Candidate Profile:

* z+ h8 `) U  E! |( [Candidates for this funded program must be landed immigrants, Canadian
citizens or refugees who are eligible to work in Canada and who have:
, u" A0 w! Z( o0 _0 J8 }3 X*        English communication skills in the 4 - 6 range on CLB
*        Basic literacy and numeracy skills and some secondary or post-
  M+ i  v6 l$ l" G* Tsecondary education
# z& z  r/ |) O( W  [*        A genuine interest in finding permanent employment in a high-demand
3 I  i+ [- O4 T3 i' M, a; a) W3 eoccupation
$ i# x/ y6 G) X' S2 W6 O! y( h/ E( f*        Availability to study fulltime for 5 months and then be employed
* G- h& X& ]( h& e3 c*        Willingness to commit to a program and future job
$ b1 ]& k) y+ {% @*        Resided in Alberta for the past 3 months

Program Description:

                        *        4 months classroom-based instruction and
* M2 O8 }  |% q# M* e. O" Q2 |; P3 Qfield trips
- _' ^2 ?. w7 S6 Y- e) x5 S        *        Improve your English while learning about a variety of
high-demand occupations
' w6 ]7 N! }% j8 `% @0 {* ]( _8 K        *        Increase computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
  L- d6 Y- k+ F, yInternet, etc.)
        *        Write a winning resume and improve interview skills
        *        Get First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certificates
        *        Take advantage of one-on-one employment counseling

Students may be eligible for tuition and living expenses from Student
