Program Overview:
# |- O7 n# i( F4 y# _; s
/ [. h8 I; m' c) z& ?2 bIntegrated Employability Skills Training gives immigrants the essential
8 H6 N+ B5 b2 l4 t* w1 ?skills needed for success in the Alberta workplace. This 5-month funded
program combines classroom-based training with work site visits and work
experience placements in high-demand semi-skilled occupations, such as
4 G3 b: O# Y: Y; g, Gwarehousing, customer service, hospitality, healthcare support, food
services and others.

Candidate Profile:

Candidates for this funded program must be landed immigrants, Canadian
citizens or refugees who are eligible to work in Canada and who have:
*        English communication skills in the 4 - 6 range on CLB
*        Basic literacy and numeracy skills and some secondary or post-
+ A$ L6 J- Q5 a, p8 w' e& f7 csecondary education
*        A genuine interest in finding permanent employment in a high-demand
occupation
*        Availability to study fulltime for 5 months and then be employed
- ]' M9 J+ z( G: D; P3 \' \*        Willingness to commit to a program and future job
! b4 S. C6 ]+ b4 d& j& u+ P7 r1 v' Z*        Resided in Alberta for the past 3 months

Program Description:
) [) Y/ n0 M  x" h4 r
' T0 e( F, r& U* j3 T4 T8 k                        *        4 months classroom-based instruction and
field trips
        *        Improve your English while learning about a variety of
high-demand occupations
        *        Increase computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
2 C2 v/ a4 d( v* qInternet, etc.)
        *        Write a winning resume and improve interview skills
        *        Get First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certificates
9 h; H, R; x: i- _        *        Take advantage of one-on-one employment counseling
' J% F9 ^- g+ |# E9 b                        *        1 month work-experience placement

        *        September 12, 2005 to January 31, 2006

Funding:

Students may be eligible for tuition and living expenses from Student
