Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. We are looking for 4 temporary full time summer staff. ! |( _8 u9 h' V& m' B+ N

Key Responsibilities Include:: Z7 d* f! H% S' [3 }' j) f" g
Activity Planning and Daily Activity7 d- ^8 R& G7 ?, t: ~
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
/ r7 Q* {/ R& N. |- X5 W9 R3 f; i/ S• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
9 g6 |9 M+ U- }. {; L3 _• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball,
! I, I4 C! b# a. Z3 l• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
% g0 H4 c* K2 P' @8 B1 c$ T/ M. [# K( y• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
% [5 D. t7 j6 h8 o( _) q1 T• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

The successful candidate will have:
/ N" D0 S9 o+ A, ]• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
; {7 o$ U% k- [' L9 ]! k• Experience with children9 S/ V# U( H5 _8 y( N
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
3 N" \" S" X) ?6 A& R* t+ ^• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.# o3 Z1 X8 R6 v
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.$ z9 F% Y$ X1 t4 B0 C* H
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
4 l/ }8 N6 V3 V% b• Documentation of a clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
2 a& z7 ~. L) p! l% ^8 v6 S• Documentation of a clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
