0 k6 D# _+ Y% r' o1 [) s' ZBig Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff. : ^7 k: {* q* c8 q

(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school). |2 O1 R5 N5 F0 a3 P+ `$ e7 ]( s
+ R+ L: T9 B0 c: q% w2 d% GKey Responsibilities Include
2 e, h# @0 h9 D6 M, G# _Activity Planning and Daily Activity0 g& v# f3 L6 U p% X U
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership./ n4 x0 v1 J$ H/ M* ?; u3 E
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. 1 j6 E5 I; T( F$ {- I% v" q
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, ; p: E8 o. b: x; J, ?& |
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.- O5 h( d; H) U% k# E' F: z% }
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
8 W I' ?3 Z+ X) I/ J: Q$ `3 F1 L6 K A• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

The successful candidate will have:. e: [! c3 ?/ S" d% E
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting7 A* j3 i: g& b3 p1 T1 R
• Experience with children
$ }3 p# u( C- M* C' k• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
+ [1 `9 J5 O, [" ]/ |; q• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.7 w" Q5 q9 g" w1 I m# B( K
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented., [; p! T2 }- a2 t! X( f& V, B! p! O
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
* q1 { \7 k. P• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
) Y* a$ b1 I+ I$ n• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
