FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization

emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
" w3 M: E0 x! z9 e! uand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a ' @' a( O* d }9 d" H$ \8 T0 ?
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and ) @" n7 q: g& m
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern \8 P" _7 y6 j

* S! `1 F% b3 J( _Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
. g: c9 K7 x" ^Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
' Z# ]- y7 S5 N: D7 a+ M* Lassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

! h2 \; Y) j( B# mDuties: ' m) N# G4 J: J& b
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
4 H& e x* ^. d- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities ( W% d* U6 M# `
- Assist with equipment maintenance
6 q/ Z; \; B% J/ m7 o" v- Assist with production logistics for programming events + n1 v1 Q2 w! B5 M
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff 3 W6 B N9 E# J! |' p" W( J" a
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable 3 g5 ]% C9 i1 D5 x- `
- Provide vacation relief

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-5 G R1 I7 @6 T9 S- e4 `
secondary training
8 G2 J0 }5 k. G1 E4 H* U4 k3 Y- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week ' I7 n* Z2 v8 N' m5 ^3 V
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks % a/ f$ D! c1 K5 @3 I* N

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: % l3 M8 P* V3 z: f- R+ Z
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
" K# f# u+ ^ [8 \% q- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
: p! d4 `+ ]' W; V* O0 A- Advance organizational and research skills " u$ F" j8 \0 `" b' D$ e
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
5 m$ E% W/ p c7 u. T- Strong team player abilities
