Duties

* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
$ R- O; E; {3 K- U/ C * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis; k4 A8 r. c U
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance, y9 p8 [# _% z5 o
* Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students

D, _, ?9 w2 M * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies
! w" j: V- j( }. y/ p/ M( | * Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs) y6 p- I- t; K' O3 n
* Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment
