Duties

& W' I) d+ F: L$ h" l9 C7 O2 ]; { * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
# m4 S1 \6 Z" O: i * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis! y6 m7 N# F7 x2 \2 F1 B6 `
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
+ Y$ y$ _2 L% ^* _2 n. k# A5 S * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
, F ]" n) z" V2 \6 s8 z * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies. {) N4 t3 P+ H% ]
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs( i$ c# k- h% D
* Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment4 |! m, b, G7 A% o

* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred& f9 t+ C) @! ~4 O
* Minimum of one year of related experience in some aspect of analytical mass spectrometry is required
