This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and! b; C' \9 R5 K `( x0 ?- U$ |
knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.
- i! V9 [8 i" l* Y( _8 A4 \The program includes the following elements:
! P8 r' W" D- V1 A• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
- B" n& y' L& u( h! g$ J• Standard Child Care First Aid
* i/ S2 H) |$ d( O+ j• WHMIS
. t" c+ I, }& V2 o4 k3 e• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care" }3 r2 x6 T5 J8 R" o# `0 [
• Components to improve communication skills: a) l0 l$ m3 o6 k. U
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search

Eligibility Criteria
4 Q7 N* ~0 L$ ?• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen6 Z% |/ H: C. [* Z
of Canada! x7 u1 B5 \5 C& f
• have a Social Insurance Number
2 b8 y% s) F$ {2 x• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check! f9 `( W! w, Y. g( b% g: H
• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent9 T; b& G; ?5 W1 c u
• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time
: w7 B( i$ R2 P: B7 o5 X4 b, V$ vprogram; l7 H/ U. F) S4 A3 g
Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet
. T) V$ `8 B4 K2 O: V8 L$ k6 Athe following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:
0 ]/ U( c0 k% ^. T$ L$ j3 Q2 |• be unemployed or underemployed.) r/ R! G9 E) c4 e! L
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course
