 ; K, ]) ^; U8 o" w6 q6 C2 N& CDear colleague: once a year, the Waste Management Branch hosts the
 0 E# V5 R2 L' g- g7 l3 YMaster Composter-Recycler Program. Over a 3 weeks course schedule# n3 y( v' l1 S1 _& K3 Z  `2 ~: m
 (Tues./Thursday evenings and Saturday) volunteers will learn about3 J7 Y! Z* Z& X$ I* y
 environmental stewardship in our city, such as: history of waste
 ' n& B- ~' ^: L: R4 e$ l4 s- }management; home composting; household hazardous waste;
 - l, Q% P7 y! \, y; d' A' O! X5 Q# _vermin-composting and residential recycling.; G3 ^! E' X% Y- ?: ~8 a! H8 F
 3 \) k7 x2 c9 J0 c4 ]
 This course offers in-class instruction as well as several field trips) w4 P5 k. _& f3 |9 ~. E, k
 to various City facilities. After finishing the course, graduates4 z: ]3 d4 k2 f$ n9 V
 complete 35 hours of volunteer activity promoting the four R's:
 ! X  X( b% v6 I- wreduce, reuse, recycle and recover.  Graduates become important" {5 D' j2 O1 x; A* T' c. ?8 u
 resources in their communities as they broaden awareness about the2 T) R# e1 _4 H3 c! M; W
 importance of composting and recycling.
 3 p- J" {; M9 D% S: d0 P" R6 a, d& ~7 x9 M( H: S" S4 S% c7 D
 Examples of volunteer activities include: help with Reuse Fairs & the
 2 Y& z6 e' d3 X5 cReuse Centre; helping friends/neighbours with composting problems;: s6 ?' n  s! Z
 public education display booths; assisting with programs and4 t6 ^0 c' e" K4 M7 ~( l6 T
 maintenance at the City Compost Education Centres; assisting at% D5 X( \& Q2 ^9 H$ ~
 various demonstration gardens and general public and school
 ' H  W6 a& ~: \/ B8 @& Dpresentations.6 V$ @5 m/ G  ^" A) {. U# w
 
 ( f+ v. a! y& t9 Q* CThere are many other opportunities for volunteers to contribute and
 2 r/ H7 `3 }% _5 u# Z7 r3 I9 L. bvolunteers are able to choose the opportunities that interest them the
 , U6 Z2 ~" v/ [- E7 h1 smost. Curious about recycling and composting and sharing your: S. O8 G4 j- D) ~4 m4 T- d
