Edmonton — Homicide detectives are investigating after a woman was found dead in a west-end apartment yesterday morning.

6 s5 z2 A2 N! IAmbulance personnel were called to the building at 9023 184 St. at around 4:20 a.m., found the body of a 50-year-old woman inside one of the suites, and called police.9 ?; t2 F; k4 F) N! n# v t5 z

Investigators have not released the cause of death, but are calling the death suspicious.

Officers are speaking to a 20-year-old man who lived in the suite with the woman.

Yellow police tape surrounded the entrance to the eight-unit, three-storey tall building as tight-lipped EPS officers walked in and out of the home throughout the day.9 @. M1 |( w" M

A twisted samurai-style sword lay on the ground a few steps from the entrance, the only sign of anything amiss in the quiet complex.+ f. S- g6 N* d1 X) q

Though neighbours say they did not hear anything yesterday morning, some say the neighbourhood is less safe than it used to be., b: c) K6 J" x. c: H

“My granddaughter is 20 and is scared to go out,” Joan Harvey said while visiting her relative yesterday afternoon. “I’m scared for her.”7 `" @; B/ [# t* v- a$ \) o% @
* _3 d- U( p7 M3 Q( s+ DCiara Harvey said she wants to move away from the neighbourhood, just blocks away from West Edmonton Mall.

“It’s usually pretty quiet ... but lately it’s been getting pretty rough,” the young mother said.
