Duties
0 a) k; s5 h: S) ]3 \, C0 e! M
    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
4 K4 ]! _" W# k- Q    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
; c1 I/ }' k- }    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
7 @* S4 I2 ?" U4 D& v    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
' `) D6 H7 X' K5 n3 `  O& S    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
  f" F3 g8 h  G; u    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
$ y% R* j7 o, q; {9 U( Z    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
" k( b  O- R" E- y9 \    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
, b# z( A  ^2 M( O" f7 a. S/ ]; p    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
: A0 \/ e8 k: w- I- i# l* n    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications

# ~! A# d# H! r! q    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
: T4 _- q! ^6 e4 ~8 P: a4 V* P5 S    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
! p. F% ]8 x9 |/ S    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
    * Fundraising skills an asset
  z8 P7 O8 {8 S+ \$ U: K* f    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills

& O: `( x. g* r    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
