: D) [% \' _7 {- {2 s) d& g    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
" a- ?$ D$ n- D- z) V! j3 |* {( K    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group: [" U. u+ c0 `9 L3 r0 _
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
6 _4 f( `# w1 Y8 O: B    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations8 n( z, ]6 ^- x, u0 o" h: X5 j
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director+ z$ y) l0 z! w4 w; f; K
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses& H( w2 C0 K% n6 |* R  G% G9 N! ~2 t
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
0 M+ o8 ^$ X2 j& T/ T2 @" C5 S/ V5 J& z% \    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program7 m6 d7 |- [1 f2 X- F  _
    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment/ b) g" W7 l+ {) p& O4 ?
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports: {! X# H+ X+ ^' r7 C8 M9 u
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs& ~% }5 M( {  b
    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly& }4 W4 S5 e' @0 ?
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities. q! H1 K& I: x' ~: T
    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications5 b$ b  U# v. E* x/ p! b

2 f) ]9 J- F3 \) N5 i0 v    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline8 t; p6 {. h6 @4 C$ l. n* H" k
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth$ ]7 \; T7 Q! q4 z7 T
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies' f+ _3 L6 j: Y0 S* R
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
! J* q/ C8 ^$ b; H" B' m# k    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
- f' `' t6 ~: z. g; a0 X% W' D' w    * Fundraising skills an asset. A- ?  m1 M9 s( j" u; o
    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills& n6 }4 t; f7 k5 A* L+ K
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills% Z: K. I# [% k6 n$ d
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
4 h" D6 w2 t' d6 m; c( k, f    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills# W  F+ a- M) D- z" a' E' ?
    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset! |$ T$ o% U& A
