* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis5 U& e* r! _" T: ?2 ^2 G
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
' H K, H! k& \0 l6 Y0 d+ n! g/ T * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques* N4 b# a% }0 V3 K, y( u
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client. P5 n& ~3 X: u
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
7 Q# R% z% p; e * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
/ D$ R: P" ] l: D$ W# B# z * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab: E7 h0 D, N0 u7 M& K$ e7 Y
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices6 Q0 A4 @2 D2 O0 `
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS), L! G7 A' E( S# Z
) m+ s) |: U o3 L) X1 W7 ^Qualifications8 O; \" \& _: t& o' g& y
0 D7 g) H; R. V! d5 Y) p6 j * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
/ w7 v& W4 t" \ * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
& |' s$ ^5 T; x! ] * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel* _5 W# j3 G$ p
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures' g4 `! g! H2 l
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
