Duties; K8 I7 u/ R. M/ @: r2 A* u

* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis) d$ _' q7 g8 C, E7 u
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
. z5 q, s3 D0 V. S( b0 [( d * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques9 O' o, W! C5 V% R! P( q! F
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client p+ T6 {4 j$ K
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
: T6 N; M( t; }1 B& h; N$ b * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
9 z, W: [! u H. j * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab1 J8 v3 ~& }) \. t1 x4 u
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
$ F7 I% ]( D* M) {1 H" D * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS); s- _5 V7 @8 X1 h+ Y2 H% A

4 o! _7 c! k" I9 V+ j+ S8 X. e$ R * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred. U* c3 n; p4 o, W% S
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)1 q1 K; |- ^+ F, y8 g8 z+ p: c0 g% N
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel1 F- j$ x& E% X" S" J7 ] b
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures( c. w7 E C& i1 p/ E3 ^1 U: _ A
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
