Duties+ N/ P* g3 b9 W5 x8 V
; f7 s( t4 d8 F$ r- W * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
/ v1 C) D% |( u3 X6 V& R& B * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
$ `3 p3 \$ A6 d6 X6 z3 Y- }1 C * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques; q/ N% J6 Y8 E
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
# B! w' E# Z& p * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry" s5 G+ _# b$ k% A: U; ]
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals+ S+ v8 ]5 W9 V. H
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
: O+ U9 ?# b, C * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
$ t% e Z8 X- o8 \& N. R/ c @ * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications3 ~) A, p9 \7 q* \9 D* P5 F
: @% Y) m, Z+ p& O- x3 B1 y * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred" k. S2 f( {# T6 L; m6 `
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab); k$ M, N5 E# n* d5 m
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
/ a+ K8 [1 y; x# f * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures. v/ ?5 A& R6 q9 W9 K! P
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
