) L/ ?$ G" I0 f) V1. Chemical list and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s)
8 }( X, N$ q0 o. N7 s4 X9 U8 h% j• help complete up-to-date chemical lists for all laboratories within the department
. t% g. C9 c- D6 x6 O+ T• collect and obtain MSDS’s for all chemicals$ J# m; b* c, F6 t
• make sure all chemicals are properly labelled and stored
9 \1 p& M7 G* W/ h* f• proper disposal of all unwanted chemicals. p5 q: v( `2 o: \$ w/ `! e
• finalize chemical lists and then duplicate and label all MSDS’s for distribution to OH&S for the MSDS on line system.9 C: f" r3 o- K$ d! W9 `
4 V8 v$ X; v. I5 u$ X3 O5 V2. Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and Hazard Assessments (HA’s)
- U; A& C6 f* @3 Q4 E E• help update the department SOP’s and HA’s. This will include verification of existing SOP’s and HA’s and tracking any that are needed.
& G( a8 W6 ~: H& l- v0 B6 H/ W
) n0 j: l, s3 M9 ?% ]9 \- }3. Tracking System
3 K8 E- k5 p7 [4 V* O# r3 }• help develop a tracking system for adding or removal of chemicals as well as continual updating and verification of SOP’s and HA’s * k7 P! M4 D; s' E( B$ h0 C
* w c( d& h: a6 UCandidates should be inquisitive, thorough, and willing to learn. Some education and/or experience in safety is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment are required.

" z& G2 s- P$ s! S3 FThis is a two-month summer position, preferably commencing the middle of June, which will pay an hourly wage commensurate with education and experience. Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening.
