FUNCTIONS:

As the Corporate Financial Co-ordinator within the Corporate Accounting and Reporting office of the Finance Branch, you will lead the year-end reporting functions within the City as well as the operating fund corporate accounting, and guide the development of related policy, procedures, and strategies. This includes:6 e) S# A* q- \. s+ P) o7 _! V8 o
/ x9 `0 ]* D1 T# r2 r· Coordinating the completion of the annual consolidated financial statements, the Provincial municipal information return, and other financial reporting for audit.

· Leading the development of related policy and procedures, and internal training where required.

· Managing a group of professional and administrative staff, in completing ongoing corporate accounting functions.

4 I' f2 T* P) C· Performing the regular and customary managerial functions including decisions respecting staff hire/promotion, work assignment, performance appraisal, discipline, and leave/overtime authorization.

, g& O0 D' ^0 L) D· University Degree majoring in accounting or finance, and a Professional Accounting Designation.

· A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in the financial accounting and reporting field." {! h& b; i* } w) P( Y; c
3 p! _6 X9 r* B, d· Experience with complex computerized financial systems. Familiarity with SAP would be advantageous.+ x/ j% i, C3 x0 w
7 f+ A I7 {( _+ i· Experience in preparing complex, consolidated financial statements for audit.( R& v- w- @% N) y
2 p1 o$ o' r, k# Z1 O% o; Z· Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

· A thorough knowledge of municipal accounting and reporting practices and standards.
