Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community$ Q1 Y% Y/ z( G
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
; o3 j5 Q2 k: N8 U- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
( Q5 R* l$ ^9 f- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies5 ~/ k. i+ l$ |* z) ~% t! [! v
- coordinate good will activities
. J/ s$ K8 D5 K! [4 v) y- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members/ R) O! @/ Q$ O' s
- submit information for community news
( E; z9 ]1 Z7 c- prepare and send AGM information to members
& x7 h- B7 y' A( h0 c- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.9 h% g2 i/ U6 u8 X& s* z: n, F
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities- Z) V4 K% q3 y& S ^+ ~
- update ASSIST website

- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services7 \+ m% {/ b4 J% v( _; b/ N' M2 i
- assist in writing proposal for ISP0 ~2 @- W- h/ r9 `6 r% a! T: c0 L$ P
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP$ v( e+ p. i( w# z2 E4 Q
- explore new ideas for ISP

- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education

- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
