$ K; H- l1 f/ s0 I) f: EPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. # N1 y: B% a: J. ]5 c

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
7 W% I: ?( e& n: W- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
- Q1 N4 D# K! L7 b# q) e- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
0 w4 Q' L$ Z9 T- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies/ e. J3 A( ]' d& S; u- A
- coordinate good will activities( G; q/ |! c4 v1 z2 o4 K
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members2 ^- N( q6 N% G, ?
- submit information for community news
c( E2 s$ n2 |/ s. o. G- prepare and send AGM information to members
7 b3 r D2 Q8 z! t- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.
& T# r- F1 t z! r( {$ t- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities
+ h; Z4 d; h \; }: v- update ASSIST website
( _" I6 K9 P% _- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre7 V' R4 Z+ o3 v$ m: m3 T
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services& G4 D; F/ x6 Q/ B, \
- assist in writing proposal for ISP
9 A" T, S* y P& I# s9 Q# E) G- write quarterly and final reports for ISP
- L& f8 y& s! R% e1 w- explore new ideas for ISP
# Q U3 c- T$ g7 L0 C5 }- hold regular meetings with ISP team
' v7 X" U% \ d# j6 |- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

Qualifications! u5 P5 c. m D6 Q
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education % w: H; F# R+ _7 f
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills O( e3 }8 R( O# m, O2 q
- experience in community work and immigrant services9 a! B% ^# i% U$ }6 d
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
- j* b; a/ I0 ~( q3 A- leadership skills9 @* i7 {' Q, L9 Y D
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills3 \# |! z; N, \# u
