Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. 0 {; {" X# X* @0 W) H. I

) x( {4 X$ d) Y) V+ t& K- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
. x3 g# [* k& h8 }4 j; m+ E& y- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services1 A* @* M; P) @
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services" {/ G9 v6 b) F) b& j) `
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members# c0 l% c1 `: s1 r) ~# G( \. p7 ^) D/ ]
- submit information for community news 1 [& t3 g/ E l5 C, `! J' W" q
- prepare and send AGM information to members8 ]3 u6 h0 ?, U3 w
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.+ ?" Z3 b" ?$ E7 t9 ~; V
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

0 Q! w! L6 O- E- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre

- assist in writing proposal for ISP: m! B$ d# V/ m; S
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP" P2 b9 r5 f/ [; `' c% b
- explore new ideas for ISP
( I) h/ c' X" l' B# D- hold regular meetings with ISP team
9 x# c2 j0 x7 }: ?7 V- C1 v- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education ( x& p) {" D. U; | [
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills: K' f3 Y! x8 a* Q
- experience in community work and immigrant services
" o4 q) ]! ~ b- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars8 t0 G# }7 b( K$ u3 {( d1 y4 H
- leadership skills
