4 E- s: B3 j$ X& A" E9 m! v4 tPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. ; {; i; `; J# e* H

Job Description:
) N2 l: |: x! r/ _- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community( w2 F# r, P$ w0 z
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
' C; K" {+ |& X- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services+ I @7 |4 w( \! r+ D
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies
% v* v9 Y+ X; D! {0 k# W- coordinate good will activities
6 D/ }) U+ l" C2 a: G3 p- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members2 J$ c5 g, N/ W# m: C" ~( {/ g
- submit information for community news
7 e7 F& X( R& N3 a0 f- prepare and send AGM information to members
8 d4 i7 N! \- K5 A' C$ r- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.& v/ j/ f' Q% E$ n% X' }, h1 q, N4 W
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities
) z0 r$ W% b4 x. ~7 R; f3 N- update ASSIST website# w. Y$ l; E$ }& M, D
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre
$ X B' I/ v& k3 u1 T6 n- A) P- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services3 D1 v% L$ B1 G% |* O& f- X
- assist in writing proposal for ISP3 }7 y+ ~5 X& X0 K) Y3 t& D8 n
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP
% q5 v8 f- s% |/ s3 z' a- explore new ideas for ISP 5 c& B- k: V8 y1 R6 m% [( g
- hold regular meetings with ISP team
, F u5 }! e; W0 o7 O, Y6 n- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

Qualifications1 |. ~* k3 _) Q% O3 C. b- ?
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
/ M; q: w0 T1 l# \& ~* h% k- I- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
v7 r2 T& P0 s& q w* X. Z- experience in community work and immigrant services
X1 j* m3 Y( ~- `- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
