Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. 7 k: y5 E- `) u6 f: R8 ~7 _2 G9 @

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
- V0 R8 y; k2 W. P( J- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services+ i; F8 T% {# X% x1 a8 x
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
4 o( _# @' z& R1 K1 f- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies6 A# W' @4 v' ?* x' m0 w
- coordinate good will activities7 r% h5 O. H$ b
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members
$ L0 k; u6 M8 x5 p( H0 _, O- submit information for community news

- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- assist in writing proposal for ISP) e3 G% U- L! d- }1 [
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP! M, X9 f, Q8 _5 R8 w' j! t4 }9 ^
- explore new ideas for ISP 3 \. r3 p& m4 t. q' l+ I" U6 t) w" ?
- hold regular meetings with ISP team

- update membership database

4 @, {6 o1 X5 a$ U: BQualifications
: P' B/ p# k6 M; G; O- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
$ _- n! Z( m9 D+ p& g% Y- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
; U9 N% A" x: m5 q# L/ Z; r) P0 ?; M- experience in community work and immigrant services: B5 ~& f! L ?$ d9 B4 l6 s, k4 f
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars) Y/ D! a; X8 c9 W/ O
- leadership skills
