Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. ) h' q/ ]' |% z; o h6 N! h) _) {9 @

9 X/ g# z T" a$ p0 R; b1 w. p- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
9 U! z5 {: Q! t+ o; E) D; s' e- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
* L: j2 e/ v# F* @. b$ S- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members0 x9 Z9 C6 A1 ` q) S3 _

- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.3 f0 t4 C6 O% I) h4 P
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities0 S% H/ ?% c% R" A
- update ASSIST website% H7 d, {% z1 w' Z/ @
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre

- assist in writing proposal for ISP

- explore new ideas for ISP

- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

Qualifications. s& T- L2 w& q% s$ ?; t8 @1 X
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
9 ^% P/ d; L9 s/ p; w+ t- good oral and written Chinese and English skills# J8 V; }3 w+ U! m* h; U
- experience in community work and immigrant services
1 d2 ?) ]: P z7 G- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
* T0 P) }( n+ Z) J) ]; o3 U- leadership skills. x5 y# k2 }" R. ?
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills
