Job Description

Board

•        is accountable to the Board for the achievement of the agency’s vision mission and goals. ~$ u1 ~- p* h6 q# }
•        is fiscally accountable to the Board with all projects and administration of the agency within an approved budget by the Board

•        is accountable to meet community expectations and funders’ requirements

•        development and management of the programs budget6 d3 q; D) _$ z# B$ M% I. B
•        develop, implement and manage operational and programming budgets& H- P, Y8 V6 v, S: `

Staff/ `5 Y3 z' L" c
•        responsible for recruitment, selection, training and performance appraisal and termination of staff
$ d3 z2 `( {) U" R•        provide leadership to staff and volunteers
: e+ y0 b1 T* d9 R, z) G0 n' v•        provide day to day leadership to support staff in programming functions
0 u( I/ Z% \+ I. ]. O& x•        monitor progress of agency service providers and coordinators/ K, o3 {5 j' M# X
•        provide opportunities for staff development and growth( [# v4 W2 S" S! a4 V- b
•        meet with staff on regular basis
6 [  n7 h( e3 ~. x2 |4 D•        build and maintain collegial and strong working relationships with staff; x4 A% E- w9 k7 ^6 }" I2 @

Programs/Services4 g, `% D4 I7 _
•        overall management of all agency projects/programs and services
) B- U. ]' B* s. \- L  D•        design, develop and monitor client-centred programs and activities
7 c( c5 E; R) E: Y; T•        prepare, complete and submit all program proposals including budgets and reports to the funders and key stakeholders/ ^- d* V4 `! `: f; v
•        set program priorities and directions
; |0 S. c% J8 |2 U( U' \•        identify community and user needs and trends
# k! ^- B% l& O•        implement and monitor programs and community activities to meet identified needs and trends/ y/ s! t' _* U: T" F! ]
•        conduct program evaluation/survey/research; [" t+ k. V1 P  f7 Q9 |9 J
•        maintenance of appropriate reporting! y7 e) u* C( h4 T+ {5 w
•        delivery of program or activity to participants as required
$ ]- k- {( i3 j7 ?•        build on knowledge of community resources in program development8 z$ J6 q  |1 O5 f( f( N
•        ensure programs serve to enhance the coping capacities and well-being of people by removing inhumane systems or barriers and to empower people to work on positive changes in themselves and in others

- C4 R, N7 o5 L( kExternal Relations
) ~8 A/ c8 R, s  `' K- W: U% z•        act as community liaison and cultural broker between the immigrant community and other communities
- j3 P8 {% x. p* K•        build, maintain strong relationships with all levels of governments, businesses, community groups, public  & funders
. x& j7 ], `* P. Z% r# |•        communicate the value of the organization to the public
4 S0 a3 b7 [4 i3 R4 w; d1 F+ t•        identify community needs and trends; l- O  k7 @0 t1 m6 S; B
•        coordinate and monitor significant programs through liaison/partnership with other community groups9 t. ~$ [* A: i& j
•        advocate, educate, promote cross-cultural respect & understanding of immigrants, visible minorities & other at risk or multi-risks groups
: p% Z4 @' |. V/ q& }. z7 @7 Y# ?•        work with community and social agencies/groups to raise awareness of systemic issues affecting people from a broad socio-economic spectrum to social policy makers and to lobby for social changes in society, legislation and systems.  `. Z3 h  Z& S+ A
•        Identify funding opportunities and resources that enhance the agency programs/services and staff* z. P7 \8 P: F/ f% f# b
0 U3 G$ r& Y+ L; y& n9 L
Qualifications
5 }3 P/ G& h7 D6 L# u; @5 A( |-        University degree in a related field; 5 X4 E. a) O) q$ a, m
-        Knowledge of leadership and management principles as relate to nonprofit / voluntary organization;
1 ~# }# N% R7 G2 X. F1 e; g9 ~-        Knowledge of human resources management, financial management, project management, fund development and organizational management; 5 @7 _1 E/ `( ]% o' Z& e9 A
-        2 or more years of progressive management experience in a voluntary sector organization
- a' E2 k; v1 E1 G# s2 Z$ X2 {5 H) S% M* f# P+ l' |, G/ K
Salary- K- d$ b  j; k# g; ]7 F+ s4 H, ^
-        $50,000 - $55,000 + benefits # A9 `; G! z1 u0 b- W* \! S3 h
# |& v/ Z0 m) ?" {6 v# V
Standard Requirements9 G. U- _  {  k6 C9 E1 h" `
-        Security check ( at the expense of employee) and child welfare check
