differential fee was increased by almost 20% last year. Add to this,

and most of the newly admitted students who applied for housing were 2 h! u' ?' p# O7 C" v

While the average cost of living for a typical graduate student has ! }/ h6 Y4 Q) d; l( _
increased by something more than 70% percent we are getting paid
# R3 N+ l1 r' T" n: I) v; aexactly for the same amount of money that we were offered in our
) x( h9 y# z. S1 D1 q$ ?. oadmission letter (18000 CAD + 1500 CAD for international students
+ }/ N; u0 p3 A5 u% p0 e d. j8 ~=19500CAD. What I get is something around 1000CAD/month!!! after 3 J+ E" u. L; Y" T
tuition fee and taxes). To make the argument easy to understand just 6 ~/ w# F5 Q$ C- @& }7 U: f
imagine that a new student gets the same amount of money that I am 2 q; M# u! I0 @+ n6 x6 k" _
getting now and I was getting 3 years ago but he or she (like all of 1 \. U3 e1 J7 a4 x1 I8 h& \1 d8 O
us) has to pay twice as much as I was paying for housing when I was

Also have in mind that Alberta is a rich province and University of

especially international students. Isn抰 it time for the GSA to take m5 D, h* Y8 s3 q8 D
l+ X* K6 T) D8 }! \initiative in raising the issue of increasing financial aid for
6 S% t; }4 h. a5 w: P4 wgraduate students so that the can afford this increase in costs?* V2 p- P4 N9 N3 R3 T- l5 u
