2 ^, Y* k1 f6 ^3 o0 dand most of the newly admitted students who applied for housing were

& R8 K/ U0 J& j \While the average cost of living for a typical graduate student has & W2 J3 j- M! ~( `
increased by something more than 70% percent we are getting paid
1 ]4 m3 z, j& p- p+ M- sexactly for the same amount of money that we were offered in our
' N V1 P2 N! radmission letter (18000 CAD + 1500 CAD for international students
X* y, v/ c, U' {=19500CAD. What I get is something around 1000CAD/month!!! after
- h5 p9 N2 n+ S3 u1 O8 ltuition fee and taxes). To make the argument easy to understand just 8 V' M" } ]; W/ e# J4 `- v
imagine that a new student gets the same amount of money that I am 4 t% b( O- H! u9 @$ [
getting now and I was getting 3 years ago but he or she (like all of
3 p* y5 L Z1 zus) has to pay twice as much as I was paying for housing when I was
% r: p/ i' S1 A4 S2 I2 Badmitted and has to incur at least 70% more in average living costs., O6 q m. A2 ?, V7 W

Also have in mind that Alberta is a rich province and University of

is to question the adequacy of financial aid for graduate and
( f- v4 Q7 u4 V, [! y. v0 r4 Jespecially international students. Isn抰 it time for the GSA to take7 U3 {+ e4 R( b
, w, M" F. v% }8 u4 J: P) i) minitiative in raising the issue of increasing financial aid for ( f' v2 s6 S6 ?* ]1 x
graduate students so that the can afford this increase in costs?) V7 q% z/ F' u1 C
