* ?9 f0 R. M: E/ wEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.0 O* k9 r0 T- Q2 H+ @
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.

• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

JOB REQUIREMENTS:- h# }5 O' p6 L8 L+ q* D, q
• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.. M* k8 R% o6 U
• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability
4 k7 ^7 R: L% H) Y4 T* W+ V/ J- B2 l cto be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger / q4 A( ?' n9 Y% A8 `

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
" d/ ~# F9 `3 \. U3 ~• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
; I4 B: m& }) o1 J) g; I# \; |% i• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.' K% P0 s' L; L! ]0 y/ R# H( a
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) & U `0 O& |% v, {$ J0 ? M
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.

video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).& D; H$ Q9 v, b7 d8 ~
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.
