Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.: @2 C0 I$ L: O; H! l

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.
( V- d8 y) e, U( y• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.

• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather " a1 H/ Z5 p; ]; t# F, ?6 y7 o5 h
and traffic conditions.

• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).( e. u+ y4 ? n* o# A2 w' r8 M! U! w
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.5 I5 ~2 H: P5 S) z; ~/ Y* Z
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.6 J9 v- t6 ?/ J6 K9 `" S; \& H9 @
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)

• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill ) R, G1 }6 S$ K! }
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

HOURS OF WORK:0 h! V% O5 h! c# Q' V
Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week ) c" y" `, H3 Y% J) A } ~ G
1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly [- l8 E' l4 R+ u/ E! U
Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004 ; z2 Q2 M. V1 ~+ f5 y

The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
