the Students' Union and oversees all electoral logistics as per Bylaw  
' N7 L. j0 {" C0 z2000.  The Chief Returning Officer shall be recommended to Students'  - B) C% ?" h2 Z, r7 B3 F: m% w# J: E
Council in the manner set out in the Council Administration Committee  
/ n, M5 A3 D$ |+ Q/ E7 SStanding Orders by April 15 and serve from May 1 to April 30 of the

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:4 v; c7 q4 R+ q5 c  g

0 x; K5 y2 c* R/ g7 v4 _' O1) To run the elections as per Bylaws 2000/ u7 y( c! C% j
) _, P. t7 E) B( z$ n, F" h
2) To run referenda/plebiscites as per Bylaw 2000.% l  m, `; P& c9 A

8 X0 f7 d5 Y4 G. o$ q4 K% n4 `3) To choose the Deputy Returning Officer(s) and assign their duties.
& z7 q3 c7 Q  w6 _/ G2 N
+ y9 G2 p3 y, o" a* E  @4) To organize polls during elections/referenda, including appointing  
# y2 N0 Y( `. iadequate poll staff and situating polls at appropriate locations    F% e8 m$ f3 Q" O4 O9 k! x
across campus, and advertising the poll locations.; s4 W4 D8 V7 ~! L& ]
! m+ L% x% A* C" m
5) To oversee the physical count of the ballots during elections/ 7 Z% ^/ A4 t9 y& [6 g
referenda.- v% v' P& C8 {7 s! e5 B* O& [

0 F1 `) C8 J- f/ k) H8 f0 J6) To report the result of an election/referendum to the appropriate

* U8 _+ L% b5 s7) To facilitate classroom speaking arrangements during an election/ ) ^6 K5 F/ Q% S5 J. K! [

To enforce budgetary regulations as stipulated in the Elections  
) w' k( W1 g4 v; K% t9 NBylaw 2000.8 B& ?# n7 _* W% ?

10) To be available to all parties during elections/referenda for a  6 p; j. x5 l! ]  K* Z
minimum of four (4) working hours a day, between Monday to Friday,  
; g3 g4 Y7 {+ C4 b+ F) Kfrom the first working day after nominations close until the last day  
% z0 z' k4 t+ g  `) tof voting.  These hours are to be posted in advance.

1 ?' k: ~1 M* t  s3 g11) To act as the arbitrator in any dispute which may arise during  
* _) o* q, c! e6 `9 ethe course of an election/referendum.

12) To ensure that a cost effective and accurate ballot counting  
, }8 r, e' O$ [% x4 ?- Z+ y: aprocess is in place.4 z( i5 H: V. z1 M

' R- p5 z8 @% p3 w) z1 }, c13) To submit to Students' Council, prior to April 30, a final report

14) To organize a minimum of one (1) forum to be held during the week  & w2 q2 W! }7 L9 X0 H
of campaigning.3 l  r+ h; f& p: t/ f

9 L5 N: F# h5 X2 X+ wQUALIFICATIONS:

1) Must be an undergrad student registered in at least one (1) course  
7 h4 |' b7 c6 V4 |for each of the terms of Winter Session and shall be a full Students'  ) `9 j- W% Y$ v
Union member.5 k" s/ N+ S5 H3 w

+ H' l4 w! w4 U! n2) Must have some experience in student elections.: P& A$ M/ ^9 ?0 q' p+ U1 T
" ~' F* R3 v! L# \3 J5 H) P
3) Shall not concurrently hold a position on Students' Council, or  
9 U: R- M! x! ]4 O% Kany of its standing boards, committees, or any other paid position  2 B6 N: e' h9 H4 E
with the Students' Union.! w) L7 F# P! ^2 p/ L

4) Willingness and ability to work varying hours.

5) Excellent project management skills are required.

5) Ability to deal effectively with Students' Union and University  & L5 P  V% H; d  C
