Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
7 s a/ U& w4 y8 |6 \5 f2 }and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
- @; @9 G8 i; _2 ~- B/ }non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta. The ED1 j& Q e, |, Q/ D/ B2 h$ S4 {
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
' k* b, k( h" k1 h* Gpolicies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's! K" f* n/ {0 `: u K9 F8 y6 O9 L
affairs at all times.

Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
3 ?$ c. d: ^- A Dvision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
/ @; I9 s( t& o; Z9 n. z" ?% }arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
4 l8 Y0 w5 Z5 Z9 t9 @media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports( C- O0 j9 p S& S7 H. |
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures% L. M( S; G; Q6 `6 ]7 }& o. w8 i9 @
to implement the organizational policies.
& f; s: \" [1 [" K) `! P
" Q4 b% z7 i; Y) W9 @7 m* gPLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded+ K/ Y* z+ ]0 G3 f
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
& h2 R# [6 d$ nservices; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have3 C& \: [' }% {
the right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

* k5 [% b( M; r2 WIn addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the) S# }- V% j( m
development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer9 M! S! U. \: _
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
# }+ i+ {5 x/ D* Cthat bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
q5 g0 t+ C" i2 v5 e5 l* \; X5 Z) |% kpayable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of" _7 s* x0 Z; t- N3 `7 L. f
the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
/ m+ ^+ d" M9 s: V& cincluding a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
# D* e* ?& A( I9 ^partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
6 S6 w1 h1 s- e0 F* E) c4 R, O/ sorganizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to* M, H) [# z5 t, d) `/ k5 q
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
$ @$ x, M" ]8 `managing projects and budgets.
2 ^! a' j5 D q4 j7 R+ K8 Q/ h, w
PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance/ o' _8 a: T% d6 }/ T2 ^1 H
processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing9 N, a8 n) X! h: O3 a/ P
