Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management, G- f' i$ K+ L+ c$ ]3 [, o
and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
8 e2 F/ m1 I \8 T0 w7 T0 ]# Enon-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta. The ED# R6 i3 c" n ^( G( Y/ i$ C; k* L, _
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
3 `% t/ O* y8 z, v* H! qpolicies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's _ j8 i5 |* I/ t
affairs at all times.& d, e8 U+ b2 o9 {% y
6 ^* w- j) L! n* ?! s4 U2 k4 HPrimary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
% l# ~" B- O9 @) Q6 X$ z. Hvision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
2 ~- e. l5 P- T4 d- x7 _arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,' X m5 }' e" B
media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports5 Q# x O1 N1 ?# R# Q
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures2 ?, N9 t5 A! z% S# m3 V
to implement the organizational policies.4 V2 Z. O- n" J2 ]2 p
$ @# L" C, k; p0 RPLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded0 d+ ^$ m: P) p/ A) [$ t
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and0 i# {' r8 G4 ?5 \; A6 w4 W
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
" v3 t% I* V; M1 p+ A- v, Hthe right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
) u4 I" X/ ~9 S6 |development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer9 L# ]0 A. _' N- @0 g4 I. G& k9 v
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
$ j* k' K% g4 T3 Vthat bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
, A& j: i4 \. d$ x, \payable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
/ H5 g: R3 Q1 F9 Uthe organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

5 P' Y% ?4 D- p6 A+ ^0 }, F1 LKey Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
% s* X3 E) b7 Q7 sincluding a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
; ]7 G+ }! P5 |partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
" ~( ?$ D0 K# corganizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to9 u3 t+ S/ b# G9 j: q0 @ a
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and: `+ N; r; ~3 @2 O7 ?+ E
managing projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
