& q/ Q: ~# _+ ]' n" e7 k& CDrainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works
+ [' W, p& T0 }/ |- T• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.6 j2 _3 q4 e3 ~( }3 h" B* K
• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.

C! ^# U/ x2 @• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.0 K( ^& E1 e5 `
Parks, Asset Management & Public Works/ S& }( y9 Q" \) e+ B0 m+ z
• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing.
4 M# M, o* Y. j) {0 L* a& a• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.: k' s( r4 t3 T, P
• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps./ O( Z/ b4 N0 E+ b
• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.

• Pouring, spreading, tamping and leveling soil, sand, gravel and concrete.

• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.8 \# ?9 [$ e1 u- T, I, O
• Set up and take down of furniture and equipment for events and bookings at Recreation Facilities.

• Loading and unloading materials from trucks.

Job Requirements:# }. e. l/ T" _
• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.) h2 Z: l8 W- {6 m/ J) y, a
• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.
# i6 z/ i) m# H• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment.
: q. V7 u/ o/ H7 X D! [• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.; n. u! K& v0 f- F
• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment.# T+ E/ y) v% I0 B9 g! t
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
" c& t' H1 |; U( P/ W2 D& E• Team player & self-motivated, possibility of working alone on scheduled shift.
3 @* c, }+ A0 X9 C% Q6 MHOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.
5 @ A! `6 d$ X% e& ?! m% aSALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.6 ]; e: O) q& E
