" [7 ^# c( D) X* BSpecific duties vary with positions and Departments and involve performing general labouring duties that may include:
) ?6 U; m! N1 L9 Q3 s9 LDrainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works
( ?6 m/ v" |) ^/ l• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.
3 e# H1 ^) ]6 F• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.
5 N1 M x6 C/ m2 \. u" L& I• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.

• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing.
; K+ B8 D/ f; \- Z2 f% M; h• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.
" b2 j; D: _1 K7 _7 Q) M: g• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.
/ Q) V: C6 p/ ?, a7 ^• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.
Y2 y G7 k; G2 [/ z/ O• Pesticide Applicators license an asset.

• Asphalt/concrete repairs, cracksealing, and paving.

• Working in traffic during street construction/maintenance projects.

• Golf course, driving range, and park maintenance including turf mowing, fertilizer and pesticide application.

• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.* k3 E) z# v7 r# U, ~
• Set up and take down of furniture and equipment for events and bookings at Recreation Facilities.

• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.* `6 ?) U$ P. d A
• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.

• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.6 J4 z2 @4 o3 e
• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment.

HOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.
