Specific duties vary with positions and Departments and involve performing general labouring duties that may include:
+ Q9 {' Y7 [7 J. L. EDrainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works. V* ]9 Y+ Q8 j x1 s2 l3 ~' h9 b
• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.
3 a. C. B: v2 j# n7 z8 Z6 c• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.
/ t, ]& B- K4 ]. ?: k1 P& L+ u# n• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.

• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing.
6 M3 [1 j9 ^, d3 g' }• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.
9 E$ p( u0 f6 N1 j9 J# X7 W+ o0 o• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.0 Q% v9 r" k' t6 q8 ]7 r+ a
• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.

Roadway Maintenance / Traffic Field Operations, Transportation

• Working in traffic during street construction/maintenance projects.

• Internments at cemetaries; concrete pouring of foundations and markers; monument restoration.

• Assists with on-going general facility maintenance and cleaning at Recreation Facilities.

• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.

HOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.; F: U. ?2 l3 _
SALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.+ S4 H7 h! X0 e! h8 h" `6 @
