3 g2 R* n Q) `) M4 s# NSpecific duties vary with positions and Departments and involve performing general labouring duties that may include:
/ b1 R/ S! L7 T& U) R# F; d4 IDrainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works' ^- t+ @* l: ^, N
• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.
F$ y0 A1 L! m7 f7 R• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.& u M( [2 j( p' U
• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.9 N9 c3 V* D7 f/ r. u
Parks, Asset Management & Public Works
9 R9 N }4 v. \ y0 e! n: E9 D• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing.
8 P- [1 E' {' ]$ p• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.
% d/ u* X# j, u9 W+ o! D: J+ c• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.1 K& v+ S Y+ b, i
• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.

Roadway Maintenance / Traffic Field Operations, Transportation% T8 }1 D7 k e8 y: h2 U+ h
• Asphalt/concrete repairs, cracksealing, and paving.

• Pouring, spreading, tamping and leveling soil, sand, gravel and concrete." Z5 w4 P" C6 U# X* ^/ u
• Working in traffic during street construction/maintenance projects.

• Golf course, driving range, and park maintenance including turf mowing, fertilizer and pesticide application.

• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.3 B: u) I+ j$ B4 X3 g2 R& g4 z+ j
• Set up and take down of furniture and equipment for events and bookings at Recreation Facilities.
$ r# y" @% i* f' k" V• Assists with on-going general facility maintenance and cleaning at Recreation Facilities.

Job Requirements:# B" ^2 D1 [, g4 I1 P6 C
• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.
% `. `4 C5 I4 I/ M) V2 w• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.
3 M$ e2 K: y, e9 G• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment.
* V/ @) t5 H* C. C: Z% v# z• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.
- y. W3 @9 p. C% l• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment.. m, x% Q* @ |0 t3 V
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.3 l8 R7 }' K, g9 `, t
• Team player & self-motivated, possibility of working alone on scheduled shift.
, U, Z% p$ h% z2 y0 @HOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.+ @0 F1 b) Q$ R9 x" Z
SALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.
