The Research Data Centres (RDC) Program is part of an initiative from Statistics Canada, the
Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, the Canadian Institutes for Health

; N/ R! Q9 k& O4 oto support the policy research community.
Position: Part-time Assistant
Classification: Statistics Canada CR-04, Term, Part-time
Location: Research Data Centre, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta
Hourly rate: $20 ($40,101 per annum prorated at 12 hours per week)
Employment Tenure: Part-time/Causal (approximately 12 hours per week). The incumbent’s

Language requirement: English essential
Citizenship: Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident of Canada

Job description
/ @# z/ q: F4 ]9 y: }, AStatistics Canada is looking for a reliable individual for a part-time position to work evenings and
weekend hours.
5 P" t, O* d9 J# q( TYou will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Research Data Centre (RDC) computer
. W2 c& U, _" f- u& M/ Wlab located on the University of Alberta campus as well as providing administrative support for the
centre.
These responsibilities include:
/ x2 m: i( E9 }' a4 h( W-Maintain the integrity of the security systems in the RDC.
-Provide basic support to clients on operating Window XP.
-Provide general office administration support, such as filing, upgrading software and
2 j) X2 |7 d$ m7 F* u2 J. ]renewing licenses, communicating with various university departments with respect to
facilities’ maintenance, etc.
5 e5 F( k* }7 ]% ]# w-Conduct other office related tasks, such as Internet documents search, backup of electronic
clients’ files etc.
  \0 U5 C/ X% M0 y, ?+ I2 {Statement of Qualifications
7 ~( i1 V$ j7 Q6 r! g1 Z+ G8 iEducation:
-Successful completion of Bachelor degree in administration, business, computer sciences,
; o- V' r6 J3 x8 n9 y% B) Feducation, economics, sociology, statistics or related discipline; or an acceptable combination
of education, training and /or experience.
Knowledge/Technical competencies:
  G( |% k4 U4 H5 F8 a# B% L-General knowledge of the Microsoft Window operating system.
: C8 [* w2 N: o5 L6 M-Extensive experience in using Microsoft Window office application software including Word
7 ~1 j) @4 k) band Excel.
-Experience using and updating an information database.
( o3 o2 G7 }4 y. k. @2 ]7 ~  }
  R! g) h  [# Q- k0 v2 t/ Q1 iAssets:
, C1 g8 l" V" O( V! c0 e" j-Experience in using MS Access.
-Experience in web page publication, xml and/or IT network knowledge.
: c% h" n7 U: {3 x-Experience in one of the Statistics software: SAS, SPSS or STATA

-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
-Ability to operate a computerized system to research information.
-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
