TORONTO -- Sun Life Financial Inc. said Monday it is retiring the Clarica brand as part of a revised marketing strategy.8 S3 D) K# n* Q/ A8 u
Clarica was introduced in 1999 by Mutual life of Canada, and was acquired by Sun Life three years later.
0 W9 k$ R v1 l# N, CThere are almost two million Clarica policy- and accountholders in Canada, said Sun Life. Clarica also has a sales force of about 3,500.# z# Y( J! d8 g$ n) C: t2 O+ r
3 o& |% y% O1 N6 sThe company said the changes will be completed by the first quarter of 2008. Sun Life will incur a $40-million to $50-million charge in the first quarter of 2007.0 T, _7 w3 j6 t& F0 s
