TORONTO -- Sun Life Financial Inc. said Monday it is retiring the Clarica brand as part of a revised marketing strategy.
1 e' l. d6 i" z4 o5 M" E% k" NClarica was introduced in 1999 by Mutual life of Canada, and was acquired by Sun Life three years later.
d2 |% j' a8 r6 i7 xThere are almost two million Clarica policy- and accountholders in Canada, said Sun Life. Clarica also has a sales force of about 3,500.7 x- h+ O+ H, k! d: l

The company said the changes will be completed by the first quarter of 2008. Sun Life will incur a $40-million to $50-million charge in the first quarter of 2007.: V; d- _& _' @, j! c% h
"The Sun Life name is also well known and highly respected in many other markets around the world," said Sun Life chief executive Don Stewart.
