A vote held earlier in the week saw 84 per cent of students in favour of the passes, which will be mandatory regardless of whether or not they ride on transit.1 b- g& P9 S" `4 O i7 c

The U-Pass will give students unlimited travel on public transit in Edmonton, Saint Albert and Strathcona County.

Getting to this point took five years of debate and negotiations, said U of A student union president Samantha Power on Friday.
