1 v7 b& i: v, s+ }8 jCalgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.
- ~0 E- q j, V/ q- a( o1 j! HPolice Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.% ^* s+ p+ K7 V' |/ T+ M8 h5 Y, u
McIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail.
$ Z' J Q) v8 Q$ oSix-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.
% h& L$ C" g1 M/ r% _9 e% ]Chang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.
