Calgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.
+ h2 P2 e& ]. h Y0 P- APolice Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.
$ L: F' E, l, Q# D: O0 ?* oMcIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail. F( T7 x) q, w' D8 x( L+ c
Six-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.. g" m+ c' Z7 `, I+ R Y
Chang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.
