Today I was volunteering at a post office. A man in an old jacket with uncombed hair came to the counter. He had a wallet in his hand, and put it on the counter. He told me: $ p/ M, N. |* r/ v9 M* L
"I am going to send it back". 8 U$ H5 p3 f8 F. Q) {
I did not understand what he meant by "it", because usually people would send a letter or a parcel back to the sender, and I did not see he had any of those. So I asked him:
3 x5 j1 {- b0 m9 u3 y6 m "I am sorry, what are you sending back?"
* O, Q( v& f# oHe said, "the Wallet, I am sending back the wallet." Then he added: "I am going to pay the postage." - f8 a' w, q$ A. {' z. j- D
"Oh, you found a wallet, and you are going to send it back to the person who lost it?" _* R6 _% u1 y4 Y
"Yes, I did."' y3 L' U5 B, T* p/ B. ]5 h4 y$ h
Finally I understood: this dishevelled man found a wallet, and he was going to return it to the owner by post. 5 a" `) v! C, Z8 C9 G) o9 t
He took the ID card from the wallet, and showed me the address of the loser of the wallet. I saw there were several one-hundred bills in the wallet. 7 S6 g5 E0 Z. Q' ?( d" F
"Are you going to take some money from the wallet to pay the postage?"8 g Q/ _" H$ z
"No, I am not. I do not do those things."
$ d. V( z" H7 \& ]: y5 AHe took out his wallet, which was nearly worn-out, small, and almost empty. There were some coins inside. / K2 ~8 n, T; V7 u8 k! {" J. T
I gave him a bubbled envelope, and instructed him where to write the addresses. He wrote the owner's address, but stopped at writing a return address. He asked:

"Yes, you may." I thought he must want to be a nameless hero. But he said:

I was surprised: "oh, where do you live?"; x# M8 E1 m% L& b
He did not look up, and said: "I do not have a home."
Q, R8 t. M4 r# y# E. b4 ^My heart had a sudden jump. I realized that this is a homeless man who found money but was sending it back to the person who lost it. & |# v2 K4 V% _2 K
He did not a posses a home, but he had a big heart. He had the precious fortune of being a man of integrity.
