　　A hundred leagues locked in ice,

& h& [+ x3 {+ @& m) i7 d) V- x　　A thousand leagues of whirling snow.
- m& W) V( ^5 M' r% _" z6 x
　　Both sides of the Great Wall
4 \1 r2 b' c& ?  y
　　One single white immensity.
8 g5 t" G8 p* \; b+ n% R8 x* {
　　The Yellow River"s swift current

　　Is stilled from end to end.
! o5 @$ i# K! B/ y: J# U
2 _8 ]7 ?5 H) w- Z$ Y) j" z　　The mountains dance like silver snakes

　　And the highlands* charge like wax-hued elephants,

, ~, f8 ^' u. u2 \; `# Q　　Vying with heaven in stature.

) z5 K, u1 [3 L! @1 J7 |6 Z% |　　On a fine day, the land,

　　Clad in white, adorned in red,
  N/ `4 f& ^9 I/ I+ b# z' c' c  C% J
　　Grows more enchanting.

　　This land so rich in beauty
$ C. m( h* Z9 V* w
　　Has made countless heroes bow in homage.

　　But alas! Chin Shih-huang and Han Wu-ti
7 ?$ W. }( f6 j/ B- X
　　Were lacking in literary grace,
+ x# U( x# M2 u( ]+ S" S# x- a  R
　　And Tang Tai-tsung and Sung Tai-tsu
+ D# N. C) c8 m% p
　　Had little poetry in their souls;
  H5 r4 ]! [' V7 U7 d& b' t　　And Genghis Khan,

$ E% E3 d% v- I  N; A8 r　　Proud Son of Heaven for a day,

　　Knew only shooting eagles, bow outstretched
) `/ s% @+ n( `8 O: N
　　All are past and gone!

　　For truly great men
/ `; d" E- w2 {2 n6 [
+ m2 X: h. ]9 C! Z0 n0 O　　Look to this age alone.

　　俱往矣 数风流人物 还看今朝
