EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.
+ P( Y; N" _$ a) ]' X- b# p' W# h7 q6 }
The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

Police evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.( S k4 r2 b8 H' w' w! ?* H( _" L

"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."" J2 c i& x. B4 d8 V, |/ H
