3 }7 g2 P |7 q' }EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.

5 m& Q" _# z3 G- L+ PThe item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

Police evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.

"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall." f& z' V; G7 N" x

The mall fully reopened around 10 a.m. |
