! {0 X& Q! H& {3 t" l8 i

; Y" S" G6 N$ J0 o7 H8 s        1. I couldn't care less. ; [3 K& [) ]$ p8 e2 E7 g
5 \0 }* e8 Q2 R. g- C2 _1 F  b* v0 l
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如: 0 ]9 l- d$ e7 R" v9 e! G! `
8 |: z4 }8 R' n1 A7 [) t  [0 [
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?) 3 L+ e$ v6 p5 T; @# w* \7 I! D: x
! \. x/ G) W( s  k6 @' ?
2 h7 T% `" P) E$ a) d! x3 [6 _# q- z
5 I$ x( H% x/ R" u  i7 @ How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?) , f" s% N' c! B! n

4 M+ P9 P+ L6 T& H7 D I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!) 2 U- {/ U$ ?4 \1 I  c; N

% w2 o9 L0 c" g: i; X
  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪) % ~$ g# ?. Y+ s2 _* @# d

Yes, you do(care).
" n- C' L$ R; u. F& n- O2 T) V, w+ L& y$ z0 w" J* k3 [
I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理: # z% c, V; T( e
% n; y8 c' q: Y$ Q
  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意) # L, y) s* y0 _! [5 {8 Q& o

* C' k, E  v" F( m6 Q' E/ |  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)
3 Q& G( y  f( g$ B/ O6 ~( I: Y- [3 U* R0 u! n  ~
  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right. ; l7 F% t, x$ A. B. @4 a

2 ^: X" d: G. A- P7 s I couldn't be more wrong. 3 a; w% ~* _- k( ^

I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少) ; ]5 ~' {; Y7 Y4 I( s2 L

& P) t3 m. P1 D' [5 K I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。) % Q$ v+ |& _* V# Y5 M7 H0 r6 v# y- n
+ z+ i1 N4 U- j# H% M
  2. No bones about it. - O" s& u5 v5 j9 ]

1 j  ?/ R3 b3 E# R, E7 ~ 意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如:
* V/ j( L5 k! f6 \; l* d
& u9 j8 Z# n8 {$ v' U His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮)
  n5 R; ?2 J9 J- r: B* }. W, Y8 y- l. Z$ Y  V
  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。) # I9 D2 A+ p& e6 X6 i. q2 g
; A2 ~* E, j1 Y* i* Y
When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法)
7 |6 a/ {/ O4 k; m
- e# |3 l% Y# A( c# O No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了) / ~- T$ S* B" S: R, M

% v$ E2 {+ b+ X  ~9 q8 x9 s 3. take it on me! 6 a& {/ Y- \) \' u

  A5 F3 g& t2 |6 Y! l; W, g 意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如: 0 ?1 ^( V, r; i3 X- B+ s& I% X
; C7 p8 z3 A5 C3 K9 L. f% @" k
  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy) 5 R9 \* v9 d2 n% ?% Q4 z! P) Y
  U8 t2 I! X4 t1 P2 y' Y! \
The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me."
- k5 `# P8 u$ t" G
/ [& P& P( e' B; [3 u Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!) 2 \$ N) c/ D( j) O/ k
" }0 q; p: k) ~2 I
  d! l, O/ ^) U" k7 }  B7 V2 Y- L5 Z5 M" _  A% C* ]
  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.) ! Y0 }( F$ Q8 J7 Z$ f) w

- ^' n( y  `) i/ a4 p/ ]3 o# [ 4. I am from Missouri.
( r% L- ]2 f. K+ x
9 p6 H" t5 f: f9 N) U, N' } 这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。
9 E( l) ~4 W. X! C1 n. D' @$ W  l* E) E) R. d: R
4 \4 ^: I" U! A4 s: E3 r" G/ [. j$ O3 q7 f' O
He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri.
7 c* I1 B  p& y; }3 p
' i( p+ H" B. m8 K; p Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.) (别愚弄我,我是来自密苏里州。)
" I' Z2 |4 _; l0 z" ^" ^# h: g. q) `/ ~' y7 N
We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
1 R) X: r8 D: v1 t3 E! ~1 a+ Q; ^9 E7 T8 u- [& }2 p. c- h; z
As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
