- e* w. D p" K; { h' l# ]• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed9 k: C0 c" g5 x8 C1 V( l/ [' i
• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components( G v+ D0 n; X: c4 Q1 i
• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers4 i3 @) ? ^$ F$ I
• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams
/ ?5 l: N0 Q; k3 }# Y. F/ c• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place* \! x9 O* p6 C4 k
• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment. b: h3 |; j2 _% `
• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools; U* y6 B0 }, O6 v2 Z
• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting
$ x- d( W! Y9 M0 i/ d• Mix paint, blend and match colors. p3 Z3 R, r0 O
• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns/ P1 P( l; F) }+ z6 e" s6 G `
• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs
K# V8 a! x* g" W$ A5 \• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation
1 o; L- U2 |4 y/ R5 c• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling# G3 y) l7 b9 I3 o
Education and Experience Requirements:
/ k& z0 l6 M( b3 q• Completion of secondary school is required
6 n. w- k* q% ? r& r/ B• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program 2 R8 C1 e# b# Z0 e
or i+ K$ L" s& I, _- d! _8 x+ y
A combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade 9 W1 U$ E* X' L7 d! Y9 W
• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory & m& {4 H! w A, J0 C+ Y
