YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
; ?- i4 F9 V; }% D0 B5 i9 OAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
2 K( P) L- y) Q" f( Lnine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
. `- }' V3 S1 a( R- ?! rThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
- z) z: o. ?3 QThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
& e, V0 l' M; A6 O# zparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
2 U: A- S( c3 t" D0 ~3 V( s) upersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
0 S& E) Z3 H4 hAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
$ J' f& W! u# a! Efollow-up once the program is completed.

; s6 U% t% Z, n( q5 mVerto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
. [7 g+ Q; \- a6 ?' c$ uYOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
