青少年义工机会

T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip . K# H; `: T- I% V
Asian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering 5 D" C" b# i9 e5 ]
opportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on
% |* Z, S4 a  Ginterpersonal skills, anger management, personal development,
$ z! \9 b9 O7 m( z  rand  Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.& ]/ y" o8 y1 d8 J% l) O; u5 C

: u0 U7 U8 z8 x1 z) J  g7 b+ _5 v+ l: T- H* S7 D! V0 Q1 i7 A- z
What will take place in the sessions?! N* ]$ a) `( j1 c
Each session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.  A4 O/ i" }1 W1 V; d1 P/ A
7 _/ Q) ?2 ?- B5 q
These activities will enable youth to:
+ W: u# q. S4 \0 R5 {8 l0 N$ ~ Explore personal interests in arts and recreation
+ n$ k( T8 q2 |& c4 a  { Learn how to access community services and programs' o' C& O5 s- x5 @) B
 Develop self-confidence and problem solving skills+ t, B' Q& t5 {/ K3 p2 @
 Identify personal leadership strengths …

2 X4 U+ h% }: e5 k. P" v! uProgram Schedule:) M7 A$ X3 _' j( P1 b. D" S
Regular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
; M9 t2 r! K& }6 dSummer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily3 s8 D5 o2 p' j: z* o  @" R
                              2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily9 |# |* d0 A. z4 B2 w6 l$ v& v

; x* n( M% m0 e" a7 Z$ O/ \Who can participate?
/ F" \3 B* l, J6 C. QAsian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.

( e" a4 s5 a5 h( g/ e, ]3 SWhat is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?
- D& K6 u1 k* F; K. ^  l  `$ I. o/ UIt is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.
! }$ ~' F9 B" ^7 L: F" L4 z% [* R' X1 i9 q0 s  i

( L+ S/ O7 j, ^  u5 ]! g5 Z- EVolunteer’s Duties:0 b1 i0 d3 ~5 {- a6 S  n2 T6 U

# o) _; A6 c2 e+ t Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies 0 M2 X2 k" n9 c% u; X7 v
 Facilitate and/or coordinate   activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development " p5 G8 j/ F! \5 h
 Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities
% V% i8 C" Q; Q8 A+ U' V" H Facilitate or assist in small group discussions
/ h% T! U9 W1 d( f Research activities related to the sessions’ topic
3 W4 n; [9 j! x Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips
5 _& I9 D# l9 v$ { Assist in program planning
, h2 ~2 l4 O+ C; j/ h Be a role model* J9 l7 I0 ~$ @7 I

! T# [2 v1 n  K# d7 qVolunteer Commitment:
# B1 q# D0 |& @. W
& n! Z. l5 d/ N8 y8 W3 h3 _6 e On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)
1 J, E' W. h1 T  M8 d9 {& }  } One time volunteers:  minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer  s% l3 C# u4 O

 Mature, patient, organized, willing to take and follow instruction from Program Coordinator
5 o. S% e( p7 J- z% y6 ] Open and willing to initiate and maintain a positive relationship with youth in the program
+ a$ L3 E  h; j' q9 f% b' B2 c A team player5 f5 e8 \2 B3 B
 Able to work independently with minimum supervision
7 F" T! v5 H0 X Value the building on strengths of  children, youth and families9 T- _! Z* v: Q: |
 Willing to work with youth including youth at risk
