Volunteer Job Description

Position:        Youth Leader
Duration of Commitment:Summer T.A.N.G. Youth Program
) I) i% d* K$ _# J! ?! o1 DCamp 1 – July 04 – July 14
+ |2 ]" y: R5 J6 x  A, F6 t/ uCamp 2 – July 31 – August 11 (must attend an overnight camp on August 10 to 11)
6 w; T; [6 w" m  i# [" WTime:0915 to 1600(Regular Program Time)
*might work in other time in some specific days
Place: ASSIST Community Services Centre

) }$ S# m1 C4 ^! Q' d& |Duties:
6 u, I! w+ K3 V7 D0 m5 x" B& n$ j5 a$ O; fTo assist the T.A.N.G. Youth Program Coordinator by providing clerical and/or activities support in the followings:

 Distribution of promotion flyers to schools, churches, communities and relevant social agencies and professionals
& x& K0 y- G" w  h( R' {8 u Take attendance if available
 Provide positive modelling to youth
, h  O3 s$ f) z Facilitate or assist in ice-breaking games and/or other activities
) K+ r7 ?# U8 M* Z Facilitate or assist in small group discussions
 Research activities related to the session’s topic upon advice of the Program Coordinator
 Watch out on the safety of youth either in centre or fieldtrips
2 \, W9 o. O7 w  F. {5 L. w, I+ O Report to the Program Coordinator for any doubts or concerns and/or any troubleshoot behaviour
; ]6 `$ \! I  l1 E Act according to the guidance or direction of the Program Coordinator
 Must follow guidelines or procedures stipulated in the manual/training
/ @% s8 Z& U3 Q# J5 \ Attend debriefing sessions/ongoing training
0 T( Z# b2 [+ x Assist in program planning/design
" Z1 G# x5 Y1 p  G  x0 L9 ~  E# `' C8 A Any other program related tasks as assigned by the Program Coordinator

Attitude/Skills Requirements

9 A( B  Y1 L' L, X* O! \ Mature, sensible, patient, organized, willing to take and follow instruction
& j5 v$ M( Y' ^: K, D: \; G3 t Be open and willing to initiate and maintain a positive relationship with youths in the program, or youth who is matched on an one-on-one basis
# F. {. x: B7 [% ]( D A team player, can get along well with other staff & volunteers
( S0 g3 t9 d. l4 K8 }  u Concentrate efforts in the group session or activities over other distractions
: w6 q& O- h7 P) y Able to work independently with minimum supervision
 Value building on strengths in children, youth and families
, A( B6 m8 X! G1 p Able to get along with youth and/or youth who might at risk
 Certain proficiency in English and Chinese
