it's not difficult, but it's a lot of labour work.

you should always remove the old top layer for a number of reasons.

the old under layer can be removed or you can leave it in depanding on its condition. if you want to remove it, it's a lot of physical labour work.

8 Z8 q* o; h6 Z/ z' V" xinstalling the new carpet is very easy, but again it's a lot of physical labour. carpets are a lot heavier than most people think. plus, you'll need to do your own measurements, cutting, transportation of new/old material, etc.

end of roll usually have good deals on material and labour to install carpets. give them a call to see if they can swing you a deal. depand on the size of your room and the grade of the carpet you're looking for, I'm guessing you can get away with less than $750 all in.
