Position: Outreach Worker

Job Description' J, N7 ?$ ^( B3 k
- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
4 _5 D5 X# n: `1 y& _) m- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
- \ D9 E" P! k) y+ C- develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP7 ^- ^6 s" [) ^" z
- provide support to ISP staff1 |' ^. X; \2 _" p. @ \( ]# t1 \0 O
- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members: E& Y" m: G0 T* c: V
- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities+ i$ m4 `; {: t4 A/ M* J5 E
- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated; Z7 N+ w: [7 n1 h/ ] L' m& F U
- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
: X$ b F3 G7 h0 S, p' M6 J/ `# t. j- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals' c: }3 A/ n9 o# c+ R- s2 q
- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder2 s' |" D% f! F! x+ Y8 l
- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
) s6 u" k. v; m5 W4 z6 T( X- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
' ]6 X8 J0 n) E3 n+ Y- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned
! J i% t6 d. @! a5 M$ G- other duties as assigned / y6 b3 u0 i9 l6 Y2 f
" a3 T( \$ t' U2 I& s1 hQualifications) l& D. W4 z6 ~( z# E
- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
) P" n7 V, F8 i1 h) j+ \2 R- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
, _% j5 U. {1 s* c1 g9 y% j3 _( n1 W+ U- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
) s; S* U2 ~9 c; Y- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
1 y% g8 L" U. w, n5 _6 K `- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)% [5 W, A- d( ~
- good interpersonal and people skills- @$ Z% B7 j1 i L4 d
- good organizational and coordination skills: _2 H* S2 P" b
- valid driver’s license
