Position: Outreach Worker
& K. `) E- P) j4 x$ d+ r! u
Job Description
! y, C' n6 U3 B  n6 e: h* P- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
% u, L' ?! T* g# Y-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
1 {- }5 c; M/ O3 J- provide support to ISP staff
- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
  `& K" }. s; `& ]6 T) V( p- u- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
' w4 ]5 l- Q! V; ^- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
) f  u. E. o' B' _. }$ e- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
* _% a8 }7 W, B. C1 u- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
. F/ e: g, I$ f2 j7 ^) X* }- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
2 m5 \( Q1 V4 M- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned
- other duties as assigned

Qualifications
/ u. Z4 O$ R$ Y/ m7 ]" }' _7 p- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
' N( S* }7 _- D  W- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
2 b% l3 J1 s. _: k$ R4 E) P$ x- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
# |- X- k0 I& @. I+ n2 z0 R- good interpersonal and people skills
6 D& _- x1 S6 U. E& x- good organizational and coordination skills
- valid driver’s license

Other
- must undergo security and child welfare check at own expense

Salary
( k$ n: P/ _0 i/ S- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
