Employment Developer

Resource Room Advisor/Resume Writer
4 w# q* v# d9 _6 B% }* @& S. w3 i Provide ongoing positive encouragement and support to clients accessing the Resource Centre.* V3 t: p/ q2 D0 k
 Continuously interact with all clients in the Resource Area to ensure that their job search requirements are being met.
* x6 Y3 m2 C& `" z/ G2 s! Y5 s Provide information regarding job search strategies and labour market information.
* T( _2 t$ y- K, j$ p6 v3 X( Q Assist clients with resume and cover letter development, effective job search techniques, interview skills, and accessing the hidden job market after workshop completion.
3 w7 U# W& P0 L1 {5 q6 P Maintain all resources in the Resource Room insuring that they are current and relevant.
( L" a5 v( ^( W* B: W% G( s Update and maintain job boards.% B4 v& ^! E4 ?: W! v  v& C
 Be required to work flexible hours, with some evening and occasional weekend work

2 y% R% m2 _0 L; K- T: [ Engage with and build a professional trusting relationship with newcomers, treating them with dignity and in line with the values of the Bredin Institute.
% J2 o/ V1 Y6 f( {) x Support newcomers participation in the settlement program.
" T7 D6 F0 X- p, F8 x4 l3 i Promote Bredin Institute’s mission, vision, values and strategic objectives.8 p9 ~9 a) a8 V0 E4 V
 Encourage independence and self determination in newcomers
# `1 [- V- M3 e+ ?3 @ Work with newcomers in assessing their needs and a needs-based settlement plan.( j8 t( W' ~/ U5 O+ H
 Liaise effectively with a range of service providers, both voluntary and statutory, in order to ensure services are available to newcomers.+ n+ }$ O6 Q9 }  k0 \
 Accompany newcomers to other agencies and to act as advocate as necessary.
4 j- U. y" |$ l Ensure that newcomers know and understand their entitlements.
! g' H& ?! |2 i; _+ \8 y( \ Keep up-to-date all other administrative tasks as directed by the Program Co-ordinator.+ s; V6 v/ y/ x( f
 Represent Bredin Institute at meetings, conferences, seminars and other events
, I8 H' W3 o$ h1 O' ? Attend multi-agency and multidisciplinary meetings, as required

 Responsible for intake, orientation and completion of workability assessments.
' X$ U9 o* F# D, H6 } Deliver program overview to potential clients, as well as other interested parties.
, x  s8 r( d/ g+ Q: W1 N" u# R Screen and assess clients’ skills and abilities through a workability assessment.
' f6 W1 ]; z) l+ `6 K Determination of which stream of services most appropriate for the client.. K' \- ^! s! W) Y
 Provide referral information on other services that may be more suitable for the client.
! H. [) o6 r) x+ f Cooperatively with the client, develop an individualized service plan.' ?( l. i0 z' j8 n
 Create and update clients files on Mobius computer system% {' l- K2 z" ~3 `. j2 i

 Interact with participants on a continuous basis so that the Service Plan progress can be monitored throughout the program and into the follow up period

5 _9 U4 D5 ]7 C& q, U2 H6 b Ensure that participants have access to the required supports to successfully complete their Service Plan
' X- u- R/ o/ o4 }/ A' e Assist clients in maintaining a job or in identifying barriers/issues that keep clients from obtaining/maintaining employment
! a- A0 O' `- ~7 j+ e% O1 x Assist clients with obtaining required documentation for working in their profession in Canada5 h4 V6 b3 Z2 n" l1 S- A1 `% \7 z
 Develop and maintain knowledge of current programs and services available for participants1 Z+ s3 H$ a3 V* O9 f
 Complete participant reviews with the participants
& D2 Y9 I4 N# `6 F Complete 90 and 180 day follow up with client after training completion
