The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the l# o. `8 Z( A: ^& l" |) K
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
, Z. f7 j: S( C9 }0 O, E! Q( `operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has, a; {3 N% J9 ` c1 C. w0 ]
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
8 K/ V) o7 H: Q. Z6 s7 toperational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular/ ?' w, b. V0 ~1 U
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is0 j' t4 H1 E; ~' D
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
$ C3 f# J: A2 N2 Xemployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires: _. O# d' E; S
staff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
- ]. C# U* z: Call board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.% ?8 l; n* _% b& |: B+ W( E% b

Functions and responsibilities:

7 b D) k: {2 z" [1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the

6 C+ j( E R4 i) s; ?2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural5 N6 m7 K: J) d+ O# z% F( G
organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations) V0 I) ^$ g; P) O2 L6 m
and public institutions
) q1 H! ?9 q# x/ l5 X- C/ k* E% F3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
- i$ |+ G' |# rfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
2 {1 S9 K" |4 V* c: V4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community
) H6 C$ |$ z0 s8 }4 b: u4 uorganizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with

with groups and communities with culturally, ethnically and linguistically

Administrative responsibilities:
8 ]. N4 `9 k% C1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its) j3 N3 J5 h/ F% L
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of: Z* S9 J0 o/ x& j$ o
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the7 h4 c% W0 |( P' B* W( n
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.

2 E# _1 X$ D8 v9 s; RRelationship of the Coordinator to the Board1 m1 a# o. O9 ~: M) h
All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to
' o# P% K# k$ \" M- S; v0 uimplement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating- ?9 ^9 K8 S" K& Y2 h8 R/ X5 u
operations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.
2 @2 o' V$ b2 UThe Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and2 K/ O' C" i! Y4 i4 A
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should; |4 S+ }. {6 V$ ~
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership0 ` K- L7 K5 d* C4 |7 o/ j
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and; \ ?+ W7 ^$ `" g8 o5 j# C
facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
+ |% [; o2 r: e' pdirectors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial+ B( f y& h" \# a
statement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all* x, n2 S" y" C1 { [: T, B
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of

Pay Range & Terms
