immigrants are highly educated and experienced, yet many may find it
$ e" o, D( S F+ {/ q% B( ldifficult to integrate into the Alberta workforce. Some employers may not8 u; U8 N8 y% E* V
recognize their international experience or credentials.

Integrated training offers a blend of occupation-related skills, a work' _) Q9 S! I' d
experience and competency-based training, such as applied academics or

The ETIP program involves four phases:

• ASET provides professional recognition of the qualifications of ETIP

What is the evidence of success?8 m) Z0 [6 m3 n4 d6 R' D
As of 2003, more than 80% of ETIP graduates over the past six years have8 S7 T Y' u2 _7 z, d% n0 m3 I% {7 B
found engineering or engineering technologist employment in Alberta.( k# i3 p2 m! T6 R
In 2004, 46 engineers graduated from the ETIP program. At the time of
1 I3 Y& D9 J. }' B- u7 }6 Bgraduation, almost half had secured employment in the engineering industry,0 h( _" Z& `- \/ H8 c) V1 X
with over 90% employed at three months post-graduation.$ R. G" u2 Q. P' T* k$ y6 t9 i

ETIP received the 2002 Laurel Award for its innovative programming.
