- v( ?8 e1 t x; mShell Canada has confirmed to Mix News that a death has occurred at the Shell Albian Sands Jackpine oil sands mine 75 kilometres north of Fort McMurray.' d& m. s9 y2 z: @+ ~

Emergency crews responded to the scene at around 7:15 am, and the individual was transported to the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre where they were pronounced dead.8 U$ y+ X6 M) P- ?2 t3 z- L

RCMP are on scene and the name of the deceased has not been released.3 Y, C! ~4 L" V: v0 U' H4 E

Shell says it believes the death was an "isolated event", and "does not appear to be related to workplace activity".
