FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
0 ^( }- q# l0 p0 {3 Y0 R• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
" [( y4 i. c9 F/ o! {) C+ s• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
; Y) _' ?9 c, Q) i; n( IBi /Reporting/ETL
, x3 e6 n* `7 Z, k5 v! S• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
) `4 H6 x, i/ b+ v' y( h• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
! h1 @1 s& F3 f$ T" t4 G7 T# ?- y& p• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
% U* _; k' a2 Q) w8 z, u( s• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

' Y' W+ S+ h' D( |2 WSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
8 ~" f$ v" ?3 I/ g* _3 S2 _• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
6 i, ~& ?+ L( g  C• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
/ x' v0 o9 n9 r3 q• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
' X/ S! ~4 |) ?( X• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
5 l$ I% x6 L7 d: i6 y0 v• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
* n9 q+ r% @+ K2 i, V• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
