FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

' Y/ J+ L8 r' MEnterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.

! c9 _8 b' k8 L! ?- v• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
" i; E$ ~* a9 T# x  W2 G' s7 X2 N• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
8 z& `! P, m  d6 R• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

' ]1 N" A" U: X0 h  Y* B" KSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
. `8 Q2 O4 v6 o" Z4 E; W/ A5 ]; e• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
" D. c" g9 v: O1 l; p• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
$ {' K: f( b0 r: z7 C2 R3 A+ N& n• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
- k# E- ~+ q& D/ K: u/ m. H+ r  e• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
2 ?0 U4 V$ K8 p" ?9 a3 Q, z• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
+ ~, f) D6 z1 n/ _• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
