: r* Q; ~ s- n/ S Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or

provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs. 9 L/ E J( r3 k
$ _3 r( L% I3 i5 W5 d/ y Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services. + u( S+ c; _. A* g
The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff,
6 V" Z8 F G$ X5 I6 Q+ ]newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social
7 @ K8 g' } I" j- r8 B) \" [/ ]9 oWorker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as ' r: Q% B$ P+ U+ C7 S9 n0 c0 E1 d1 O
needed. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for 4 r0 b8 e5 ^* Z, l1 h
newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial 2 b/ u1 F7 @7 z$ c7 X# ~
assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-/ F: Z @/ e' I6 L3 p3 h, X
centered delivery model.

Accesses comprehensive, up-to-date information about services and resources available * U+ O# z6 }* @' K; v: K* g" j
within the city of Edmonton and New Canadian Health Network partners. 2 e( o4 | o1 y) {- o
Providing holistic information or advocacy services for immigrants and refugees served. % |1 p/ p2 H* P3 `
Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families. 4 b5 G& ~0 ]. I- S, L; g7 o% f
Provide intake, needs assessment, referral, case plans and action plans to support
& B& _9 Q$ E( O9 X; G9 p3 Ynewcomers in settling and fully participating in community. ! E# P$ O: a: E2 }1 p
Work in partnership with settlement workers or cultural brokers to provide supplemental
O9 |- r7 h7 c+ U8 k. Ucase plan support for clients who have complex needs.
7 G6 j3 w# I1 s& b, ]0 L( `* s Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers.

Qualification / n7 f5 r" [' _* ~3 ~" [) G- [
* u, J$ |1 @9 X# P, |' }; P. V Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
; ~$ M c) b: {experience in Social Work or related human service fields. ) L4 | ?2 w. K
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family , S% J0 E0 J, y4 X1 e% x
support needs
/ v0 M& s- x" p, E) s* [ Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications
# I+ y: l% \9 | Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages
& g9 \" s* E' { Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate
" g( T0 w2 c- `& A! z" b9 i; jinsurance coverage for work
