Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or & O, A" p8 ?6 v$ L {( B/ N: Z0 x
community cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to

2 W, T2 t, U: e& c$ g Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services. 3 Y. s9 Z/ i; i
The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, 0 y7 Q: u: l' j6 n8 Z/ l) r0 a
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social
0 t U7 Z: z- N. z2 q# c, C! kWorker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as * {, {# E5 S" G7 k, D* [: e
needed. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for
1 k B) H3 G6 ?2 Y* o& [0 m, O2 p" S3 Ynewcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial
4 X7 x0 t- e! G! M/ z! I. h) Bassessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-

Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers.

Qualification ; T; d, L; G4 g! K; S
, X1 w+ s+ M' n4 }5 G( ?$ X Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
; [8 j4 n, }; k! o" D+ R, Rexperience in Social Work or related human service fields.
+ k, B+ L% N/ R4 Y Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family , @' v/ Y8 U" p1 e) L( r
support needs
" }# C# k5 H' Y Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications

Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate
