Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or
; O" @. W& l3 n# ycommunity cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to

Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services. - t G. b' H* O" ^
The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff,
. C1 P; r+ {& A9 Vnewcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social 2 u. G1 j- R" |+ a/ `& Y5 S8 G
Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as
: y) L) B! o7 u, T a& M: i1 xneeded. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for
' m4 X* o/ H; V/ |* `newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial ' q" ^4 K7 a4 i6 `$ u$ x: s. v- P
assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-
, K/ t9 O5 P. p% M" I3 P+ D0 E$ Y( Icentered delivery model. 4 J# P2 g$ T5 a9 j3 E: t/ W0 C

Understands and adheres to professional ethics related to social work.

within the city of Edmonton and New Canadian Health Network partners.

Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families.

case plan support for clients who have complex needs.

Qualification

Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
% K9 }) \8 x' ?, Kexperience in Social Work or related human service fields. - d3 p( u3 Q1 `5 x ~$ [ n( _
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family * \6 j/ A9 Y% T5 ], ?( H
support needs
0 N( [1 d: j" b9 ] Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications
+ d# b" D c8 z" Y' j Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages 5 }1 A7 G1 @( k' [7 z
Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate ! I1 D. ?3 z9 n& R

Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a related field 7 Z. `' t2 z, }6 g e
