can 和 can't 的发音区别说过许多次了，不再罗嗦。

cannot的发音，重音是在第一个音节上。中国同学多数人会说错。

( i7 d8 M0 ~# p) ^# G4 e! w# S因为发音不对，很多时候在写作是也会把cannot误写成can not。
* n* g, s$ K( x3 Z* ]1 g0 z/ K. h' R
有些前卫的语言学家认为 can not 可以用来 代替 cannot。但是绝大多数英语人口表示，除了在中国学生的论文里，从来没见过或者用过can not这种形式。

, c1 D6 v% J$ C; h! l4 V6 g但是，实际上在某种极为特殊的语境下，可以见到 can not。比如

can't 用于口语中，比如 I can't go to school because I'm sick.
1 O$ Q$ c8 x$ v' r8 pcannot 用于正式的书面表达，比如在托福考试中，can't这种写法一定是错的。
只能用正式的语言。相同的还有 does not, I am, they are ,there is, it is and so forth.
( k) j# V3 c; ~7 l; f  I! H在有些作文里，用 so on 或是 so forth 也是不被接受的。这要看阅卷人的喜好了。有些老师要求你举出实际的3个例子或是你知道的几种例子，so on 或 so forth 不够具体。比如：

这是一个formal和informal 的问题， 口语上可以用什么都可以， 但是essay里面要用cannot， 现在的word里会直接改正can not， 所以说不用担心拼写的问题
