In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
- H& C' l- J' `3 NPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
1 [% J) K9 y1 ?# {Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
3 D$ G& j$ l. M) N% ]2 vMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
5 ^* b; l: ~* d, h" |7 @- a- O8 pExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
: U( U' O, B. U) k2 U8 ?& PDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
% O+ l% V# D, {Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

6 m# h+ v1 C8 _  q3 K& f! Z& HA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
- b( s0 G$ ^( HIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
