In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. 1 o7 @5 D% f# G1 I M8 [, K
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
& l2 ~: [1 h: n( G9 mAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
. I1 m2 C. W" v9 @; qOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
' J" Q A2 _! n. EMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
, ^% N3 @) W2 R8 k' g. O/ NMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
9 O: X( \0 k# O" v8 b* f9 GExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. ) A. n" k9 ^6 n! F v; ~- o
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
" U- F- @, {' i1 M8 YDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. ' U# p7 n5 i G H8 e
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.

Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. , w+ b7 z6 y8 G0 U
Qualifications
% x \6 H7 I/ e' c# a/ z$ h) X" _; JA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
7 d$ b. t9 G& L! {5 Q8 MPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. % t7 {6 ~% O; G2 o, r1 B- f- m% _
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. ' L" n* i9 h! b
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
`' Z* ~2 K* G6 R4 e# qIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. # o3 [0 j& f% y: s
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. " [7 b8 p, y! P& ]$ z! [
