In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
1 }" l9 c* ^9 {7 M# \ R8 A* Y) hPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. & V( x3 L/ i& [! G- H% _
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
; v1 h* T, I5 JOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. * E* |' {! C9 o5 }- m5 u
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
7 Q+ Y: Y/ m. ?0 U7 V5 y7 I6 uMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. ! e, \6 w. G7 r
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. $ s- L8 I" u' F, t6 S
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. 6 m9 t9 V7 Y, L0 r2 k9 f. s
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
* I* @9 m7 I+ B4 ~3 JAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. 7 K; b" N1 _, p3 ]
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
& b, O( z u$ z- k) G; j" |Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.
7 X+ \" T0 y: O4 A1 O$ jQualifications
2 M z/ t) o: A+ z8 aA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
- i2 h. }2 B9 E) TPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. 9 L+ e" K6 n4 V3 N8 F! G; o
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. % s4 b+ [9 n: ^9 x, t& E
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. , G3 H/ d1 q! W+ E6 ~
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
4 s; `, X+ t- ~2 PProficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
