A baby food recall is underway as a popular Heinz baby cereal may contain elevated levels of a mycotoxin.# x1 \$ h* e5 K/ n

No illnesses have been reported from consuming the cereal. Heinz Canada says that the cereal may contain elevated levels of Ochratoxin A (OTA).

" y5 c7 [3 D$ {4 h3 W* NIn a news release, CFIA says Ochratoxin A is a mycotoxin produced by fungi that can grow in food such as grains, grapes and coffee beans and has been classified by as a possible human carcinogen.' [8 A8 S4 W$ K7 {: M1 W" E
5 R3 E& z5 J5 b6 M3 oCFIA says that if a child has consumed the food, there is no need to seek medical attention since the substance is not harmful when eaten as part of a healthy diet over the short term.
